SECURE Grand Challenge
Tuesday 23rd May, 2017, 9.30am – 5pm at the IET TEACHER Building, Glasgow

The SECURE network brings together the environmental and statistical communities to provide fresh intelligence and new insights into environmental change and society’s management of that change.  In this way the network addresses some of the key challenge areas including ecosystems, resources (e.g. water), health, infrastructure, climate change underpinned by environmental and earth observation.

SECURE has invited its non-academic partners to define and describe a challenge for the statistical community.
A one day event will be held on the 23rd May, 2017 where the challenges will be presented. The attendees will then work in groups (one for each challenge) for the rest of the day to develop a plan/solution detailing how to practically address the challenges.
Each group will include at least one individual from the partner proposing the challenge.  At the end of the day, there will be a presentation on the discussion in each challenge area and the SECURE Network will produce a short report summarising the discussions.
The participants will then be invited to frame a feasibility project around the challenge (there would be up to five funded projects at £15K per project available).   Applicants will have one month to submit the feasibility project proposal - the deadline is June 23rd 2017.
